Compressor: DBX 160A

Remaining very similar in sound to the '70s original, the DBX 160A compressor is an evolution of the original with increased durability and feature set.

Being a VCA compressor, the 160A has a fast response time and is generally a more transparent unit than a compressor using FETs or tubes to perform their compression (strictly in a harmonic distortion context). People love it on gentle settings for all kinds of sources, and when cranked up is a favorite on kick and snare mics. It's easy to read, and easy to use, more so than any other compressor of its caliber.
